Eva Hnykova was born on January 1, 1950 in Nova Paka. She started devoting fine arts since her youth, influenced by her uncle, a painter Fr. Tasler. Later she was a private student of a painter Fr. Skoda from Liban. Under his influence she gets her own individual style. Since 1991 she has been a professional painter. The characteristic trait of her work is a gentle poetic and soft colourity. Her landscape is full of temper and memories. Everything is completed by her own invention and experience.

She is also inspired by the music and the literature. Except bulky paintings of landscape's details she's also created cycles of paintings with figural themes(Golden wedding, The Wilds…). Lately her work courses to the spiritual sphere. In her paintings there appears elements connecting the nature and a human soul. She works in her own studio in Vrchlabi, but she also likes visiting south Bohemia and Jeseniky. She became a member of the Artist's Association of The Czech Republic. She has introduced herself to the public with her author's expositions in various places in The Czech Republic and abroad.

They said about her...

The landscape seen by the inner sight, a landscape the symbol, a state of the soul. The paintings rendering and expressing esoteric power of certain places that we can't often see under civilization despoits and that we only seldom feel as a genius loci. An invisible angel beeing in the landscape. The snow, the wind, the bare trees and the dim shining sun, winter hope and inspiration – at least ten topics to think about. That's what the paintings of Eva Hnykova mean to me.
