Silesian House (Slezská bouda)

detailed map
detailed map

The Silesian House is among the first tourist lodges in he eastern part of the Giant Mountains. It was reconstructed in 1920 to received its final appearance, unaltered to the present day. It offers a magnificent view on the Sněžka (1602 m). The rubble that covers its slopes consists of quartzite (a volcanic rock). The snow piling up in the Lomniczka und Úpa riverbed glaciated during the ice ages and deeply carved the cirques of Lomniczka und Úpa.

Patches of kneewood and brushgrass, both of which grow in the vicinity of the Silesian House, represent the two most important communities of local flora.
