Palace park

The palace park covers an area of approx. 4 ha. Its establishment was mentioneed in historical records as early as in the 17th century, when it was probably still a Renaissance park. Over the centuries it underwent several changes, the last of which took place in the 1890´s under the Harrach counts. The park features many beautiful and valuable trees, one of the best being a mighty lindev tree near the main gates. A monument to František Pošepný, an outstanding Czech scientist, a renowned geologist and mineralogist who eas born in Jilemnice, is situated by the main gates. pošepný was the founder of the world´s deposit geology. The embossment was made by sculptur Bohumil Kafka. Following his wishes, František Pošepný was buried in the Catholic graveyard in his native town.
