Bohumil Hanč, the most famous Czech ski racer before World War One lived in this house at Hrabačov No. 771. From here he went to the Labská bouda hut on March 23rd, 1913. The next day he took part in a 50km contest on the ridges and after a courageous fight with bad weather he died of exhaustion and hypothermia. His friend Václav Vrbata, who came to support Hanč and tried to help him under the harsh conditions was the second victim.
