The Seven-Gable-HouseThe oldest house of the original town estate dates back to the 16th century and is situated almost in Vrchlabí centre on the bank of the river Elbe. Its looks a lot like a village cottage extended to suit the needs of town life. The house belongs to the Schreier family. The effort to utilize all areas and extend them as much as possible, gave the house its present unique form. The attic room is most noteworthy. Its panelled walls and ceiling are decorated with colourful painted borders showing floral and geometric patterns. The beams and doorposts resemble red Carrara marble. It was an anonymous author who made an effort to make a room in a normal house like a room in Vrchlabí castle. Only six of the originally seven gables have been preserved. Labská 159543 01 Vrchlabí |
