All of the region's cities and villages have a long history. They all seen rulers, political systems and different population groups come and go.
You'll find cities with beautiful arcade market squares and mansions, moutain resort towns and - exclusive to this region - widespread settlements of mountain lodges. Most of the municipalities have also German names, which, however, aren't used anymore due to the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans following WWII.
